FAQ

Everything you need to know about how Quarmup works, from quorum thresholds to flexible group rules for virtual, guest, and visibility modes.

What is Quarmup?
Quarmup is a group coordination app for recurring events. You create a group, set a minimum headcount (a quorum), and Quarmup tracks RSVPs so everyone knows whether the event is happening.
Who is Quarmup for?
Anyone who organizes a recurring group activity where turnout matters: pickup basketball, book clubs, running crews, board game nights, study groups, and more. If you regularly ask “do we have enough people?” Quarmup is for you.
How does email-first RSVP work?
Members receive an email about the upcoming event and can RSVP directly from their inbox — no app download, no account creation, and no password. Organizers sign in via a magic link sent to their email.
Do members need to create an account?
No. Members RSVP through email with no login required. Only organizers sign in, and even that uses a passwordless magic link.
How does the quorum threshold work?
When you create an event, you set the minimum number of “Yes” RSVPs needed for the event to be worth doing. As RSVPs come in, Quarmup counts them and flips the event to “ON” when the threshold is met. The whole group can see the status in real time.
Can I run events without requiring RSVPs?
Yes. You can use no attendee threshold mode. In that setup, the event is always ON, and RSVPs are optional for visibility instead of go/no-go.
Can I run virtual events?
Yes. Events can be virtual or in-person. For virtual events, use a meeting link and set a time zone so everyone has clear timing.
Can I run multiple groups?
Yes. Quarmup supports multiple groups, each with its own roster, thresholds, and event history. You can organize basketball on Tuesdays and book club on Thursdays from the same account.
What happens when quorum is reached?
The event status changes to “ON” and the group is notified. No more manual counting or “is this still on?” messages — everyone sees the same clear status.
Is my group data private?
Yes. Groups are private by default. Your roster, events, and RSVP data are only visible to group members. You can enable guest access or shareable links per event if you want to open things up.
Can I invite guests to events?
Yes. You can allow or restrict guests, and set guest limits per event. Members can optionally name guests so headcount and attendance context stay clear.
Can groups be open or closed?
Yes. Groups can be private (closed) or open, depending on your visibility settings. You can keep everything member-only or allow broader link-based access.
Can I control who is allowed to invite others?
Yes. Invite mode is configurable: admin-only invites, member invites with admin approval, or member invites with auto-approval.
Is Quarmup free?
Yes. Quarmup is free to sign up in open beta.
